THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS COMPLETED A STORM SURVEY 
OF TORNADOES THAT OCCURRED IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS ON MAY 29...2004.

NORTHWEST CLOUD COUNTY...A TORNADO CAUSED F2 DAMAGE 3 MILES 
NORTHWEST OF JAMESTOWN WITH A PATH LENGTH OF 3 MILES. TWO OTHER 
TORNADO TRACKS CAUSED F1 DAMAGE NORTHWEST OF JAMESTOWN.

REPUBLIC COUNTY...TWO TORNADO TRACKS CAUSED F1 DAMAGE SOUTHWEST OF 
NORWAY AND IN THE COMMUNITY OF NORWAY. FIVE TORNADO TRACKS WITH F0 
DAMAGE WERE OBSERVED FROM BELLEVILLE NORTHEAST TO MUNDEN...NORTHEAST 
TO NARKA.

NORTHERN MARSHALL COUNTY...A TORNADO TRACK CASED F0 DAMAGE IN THE 
COMMUNITY OF OKETO.

THE FUJITA DAMAGE SCALE (F-SCALE):

F0 - LIGHT DAMAGE. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS OF 40 TO 72 MPH.

F1 - MODERATE DAMAGE. PEELS SURFACE OFF ROOFS...MOBILE HOMES PUSHED 
OFF FOUNDATIONS AND AUTOS PUSHED OFF ROAD. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS OF 
73 TO 112 MPH.

F2 - CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. ROOFS TORN OFF FRAMED HOUSES...MOBILE 
HOMES DEMOLISHED AND LARGE TREES SNAPPED. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS OF 
113 TO 157 MPH.

F3 - SEVERE DAMAGE. ROOF AND SOME WALLS TORN OFF WELL CONSTRUCTED 
HOUSES...TRAINS OVERTURNED...TREES UPROOTED AND HEAVY VEHICLES 
LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS OF 158 TO 206 MPH.

F4 - DEVASTATING DAMAGE. WELL CONSTRUCTED HOUSES LEVELED. ESTIMATED 
WIND SPEEDS OF 207 TO 260 MPH.

F5 - INCREDIBLE DAMAGE. WELL CONSTRUCTED HOMES LIFTED OFF FOUNDATION 
AND CARRIED CONSIDERABLE DISTANCES AND STEEL REINFORCED CONCRETE 
STRUCTURES BADLY DAMAGED. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS 261-318 MPH.
