November 2013 Highlights:

(1) A surge of arctic air the last week of the month resulted in average monthly temperatures running a touch below the long term normal.  While no monthly record temperatures were set, Gaylord's 30.9 average temperature was its 8th coldest November since 1951.

(2) The biggest story of November was the exceedingly wet conditions, especially along and west of the Interstate 75 corridor where lake effect precipitation was maximized.  Total precipitation in this area was 200 to 400 percent of normal, with some areas reporting in excess of 8 inches.  Traverse City, Gaylord, and Sault Ste Marie all reported one of their wettest November's on record, with Traverse City's 7.06 inches easily surpassing its previous record of 5.51 inches set back in 2005.

(3) Snowfall was rather common, especially in the favored lake effect areas.  Snowfall averaged near to slightly above normal in the traditional lake snow belts.  Snowfall totals dropped substantially across northeast lower Michigan, with monthly totals running several inches below normal.
