2004 Tornado Summary

In 2004, there have been 18 tornadoes in the La Crosse National Weather Service (NWS) warning area. They occurred on four (4) days, with 16 of them in June alone, typically one of our busiest tornado months.

June 23 Jackson, WI Taylor 1.5N to Taylor 4E 6:22 - 6:28 p.m. F1 Numerous trees blown down and a few buildings damaged.
June 23 Jackson, WI Taylor 4E to Taylor 8E 6:28 - 6:32 p.m. F1 Damage to many trees.
June 23 Monroe, WI Warrens 2.5NW to Warrens 3SE 7:00 - 7:12 p.m. F1 Crossed Interstate 94 and went right through Jellystone Campground. Several injuries, including 1 serious when a man was hit by a falling tree. Labeled the "Warrens Tornado".

New Lisbon 9E to Grand Marsh 4SE 7:20 - 7:55 p.m. F1 This 18 mile long tornado damaged hundreds of trees. Downburst winds also demolished several mobile homes in central Adams County.
July 5 Howard, IA Protivin 2NW 5:40 p.m. F0 A barn that housed turkeys was hit.
July 5 Fayette, IA Arlington 2N 6:35 p.m. F0 Touched down in open country.
