December 4, 2005 Snow Totals
Table listing of totals below the map.

An area of low pressure moved slowly across northern Arkansas during the day of the 4th. An elongated area of low pressure (referred to as an inverted trough of low pressure) extended north from the low through Iowa into western Wisconsin. As an upper level disturbance moved across the upper midwest and interacted with the inverted trough of low pressure, snow developed across northern Iowa, southern Minnesota into Wisconsin. Much of the snow was light, but two distinct bands of heavier snow formed across the area. The northern band extended from Wabasha county in Minnesota east through Buffalo county into Trempealeau county in Wisconsin. The southern band  stretched from Fayette county in Iowa east into Grant county in Wisconsin. Snowfall totals in both of these bands were generally in the 3 to 5 inch range. The highest totals reported were 5.5 inches at Goodview, Minnesota in the northern band and 5 inches at Cassville, Wisconsin in the southern band.
