NOAA Weather Radio in Decorah

After years of work, NOAA Weather Radio is finally a reality in Decorah, Iowa. KXI60 began broadcasting for parts of northeast Iowa and extreme southeast Minnesota on April 9, 2003.

On Thursday, June 12, 2003, a dedication ceremony was held at the Decorah City Hall to recognize the completion of the project and thank all agencies involved. A total of 26 people attended the 45-minute ceremony, including:

Displays were setup by Winneshiek County Emergency Management and Sims Appliance & TV, with photos of the transmitter installation and various weather radios. The National Weather Service had press kits and a wide selection of brochures.
