Low pressure moved southeast out of Canada into the upper Midwest during the evening hours on the 13th. During the day of the 14th, the low continued to move quickly southeast crossing Minnesota and Wisconsin during the morning. By early afternoon, the low was located over lower Michigan and high pressure was buidling in behind the low. Winds from about 1000 to 2000 feet high in the atmosphere were pushed down to the surface behind the area of low pressure. This produced a short period of strong gusty winds from mid morning into the early afternoon hours. The highest wind gust reported was 46 mph at Austin, Minnesota and Charles City, Iowa.
