On this day in Iowa weather history...

1985: Rain and freezing rain fell across Iowa on March 3-4 with some southeastern stations reporting daily record precipitation amounts including 2.38 inches at Donnellson, 3.38 inches at Fort Madison, and 4.68 inches at Keokuk where the 7.38 inches received during the month made it their wettest March on record. Glazing was also reported across northern Iowa. As the rain began to taper off strong winds blew in from the northwest, averaging 25 to 30 mph on the 4th with gusts in excess of 50 mph damaging trees in some areas.
