REMNANTS OF ISABEL BRING RAINFALL TO SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN FRIDAY MORNING

THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE ISABEL MOVED ACROSS EASTERN LAKE ERIE THIS MORNING...WITH THE LOW PRESSURE ASSOCIATED WITH ISABEL NOW INTO SOUTHERN ONTARIO. SOME OF THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION FELL TO THE WEST OF THE TRACK OF ISABEL...PLACING SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN IN THE PATH OF HEAVIER RAINFALL.

RAIN...ASSOCIATED WITH ISABEL...BEGAN IN THE PRE DAWN HOURS WITH MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION NOW EAST OF OUR REGION. RAINFALL TOTALS INDICATED A SHARP EAST WEST GRADIENT...WITH EASTERN AREAS EXPERIENCING THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL. AS OF 2 PM...HERE ARE SOME REPRESENTATIVE RAINFALL TOTALS FROM AUTOMATIC RAIN GAUGES AROUND THE AREA...

NOTE THE SHARP GRADIENT IN WAYNE COUNTY WHERE DETROIT CITY AIRPORT RECEIVED 0.85 INCH...AND WILLOW RUN AIRPORT /YPSILANTI/ POSTED 0.10 INCH.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED RAINFALL...COOP REPORTS AND SPOTTER REPORTS PLACE THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION ACROSS ST. CLAIR COUNTY WHERE TOTALS APPROACHING 2.5 INCHES WERE RECORDED... MAINLY NEAR THE ST CLAIR RIVER.
