NOAA WEATHER RADIO STATION WNG-582 IN SANDUSKY DEDICATION CEREMONY SET FOR MONDAY AFTERNOON

MONDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 24 2003, NOAA'S NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE IN WHITE LAKE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH ACHESON VENTURES AND SEMCO ENERGY, WILL CONDUCT A DEDICATION CEREMONY FOR THE SANDUSKY NOAA WEATHER RADIO STATION WNG-582.

SINCE 1999, NOAA WEATHER RADIO HAS EXPANDED FROM 425 TRANSMITTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO OVER 800 TRANSMITTERS. NOAA HAS HAD MANY PARTNERS INVOLVED WITH NOAA WEATHER RADIO EXPANSION, INCLUDING ACHESON VENTURES AND SEMCO ENERGY.

THIS AFTERNOON THE SANDUSKY NOAA WEATHER RADIO WILL BE DEDICATED THANKS TO THE TRANSMITTER COOPERATOR, ACHESON VENTURES, AS IT OPERATES FROM SEMCO ENERGY'S TOWER FACILITIES IN SANDUSKY.

THE GOAL OF THE NWS IS TO SOMEDAY HAVE A NOAA WEATHER RADIO IN EVERY HOME JUST LIKE A SMOKE DETECTOR, AND IN ALL SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS AND OTHER PUBLIC GATHERING PLACES, GIVING PEOPLE THE INFORMATION THEY NEED TO SAFEGUARD THEMSELVES AND THEIR HOMES DURING A DISASTER. THANKS TO THE DEDICATION, COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE OF ACHESON VENTURES AND SEMCO ENERGY, WE ARE NOW ONE STEP CLOSER TO ACHIEVING THIS GOAL.
