Becoming a Cooperative Observer

So, you think you want to become an official National Weather Service Cooperative Observer and you're wondering what to do...

  1. Read carefully our section About the Cooperative Observer Program.
  2. Realize that most observers are unpaid volunteers, who are provided equipment to take the observations.
  3. Realize that readings are taken daily at the same time.  And that means every day, whether it's raining, snowing, 20 below or 90 above.
