The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities IA/IL needs to know how much snow falls. As a snow spotter, you would call us with your snowfall (or other winter precipitation for that matter) a few times during snow events.

We would particularly like to know:

    • During the event: storm total snowfall/ice so far as of about 9 am
    • During the event: storm total snowfall/ice so far as of about 3 pm
    • During the event: storm total snowfall/ice so far as of about 8 pm
    • At the end of the event: final storm-total snowfall/ice amount

These reports will be shared with the media and the public and will help us improve our forecasts and warnings by giving us the ground truth of what is happening where you are.
