Much above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation
characterized Kansas City weather in August

The average temperature at the Kansas City International Airport was 82.9 degrees, which was 6.3 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 93.9 degrees or 6.8 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 71.8 degrees which was 5.7 degrees above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 102 degrees on the 15th. The lowest temperature was 60 degrees on the 31st. August 2007 was the 9th warmest August on record in Kansas City since 1888.

August 2007 will be most noted for very warm conditions over the majority of the month. Shortly after the beginning of the month, a heatwave took hold of the region, and didn’t relinquish its grip until the last week of the month. At Saint Joseph, the average temperature was 80.4 degrees, which was 4.5 degrees above normal. The average high was 90.9 degrees which was 3.0 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 69.9 degrees which was 6.1 degrees above normal. The highest temperature was 99 degrees on the 15th. The lowest temperature was 55 degrees on the 31st. August 2007 was the 9th warmest August on record in St Joseph since 1908.
