The first widespread measurable rain and thunderstorms of 2009 entered the region during the overnight hours of February 10th and continued through the morning hours of February 11th.  The heaviest rain has fallen in areas mainly south of Interstate 70, with lesser amounts to the north.  As colder air wrapped into this system Wednesday morning, rain showers gradually turned into snow showers, with upwards of a quarter inch of snow accumulation in areas near St. Joseph. Unlike areas to the south of Northern Missouri and Kansas,  these thunderstorms did not produce severe weather in the local area.  Below you will find a preliminary map of precipitation recorded from 7 am February 10th to 7am February 11th as well as from the morning of the 11th to the morning of the 12th.
