A line of thunderstorms, associated with a moderate cold front, brought periods of torrential rainfall to west central and mid Missouri during the late morning and afternoon hours on Monday. Steady light rains and a steady drizzle then persisted in the wake of this front across the remainder of the region, ending what had been a nearly two week dry spell for some areas.
The map below depicts precipitation totals from 7 AM Monday (Sept 21st) through 7 AM Tuesday (Sept 22nd). Rainfall amounts in excess of two inches were reported west of Paola and Osawatomie, Kansas...as well as a large portion of central Missouri from Butler to Clinton and surrounding areas.
