...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS DELUGE PARTS OF THE AREA...

THUNDERSTORMS ERUPTED TUESDAY EVENING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE
KANSAS CITY METRO AND DUMPED INCREDIBLE AMOUNTS OF RAIN IN A VERY
SHORT PERIOD OF TIME...PARTICULARLY OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF JOHNSON
COUNTY KANSAS. THIS RAINFALL CAUSED LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING AND
SEVERAL ROAD CLOSURES.

OLATHE NEW CENTURY AIRPORT PICKED UP A STAGGERING 5.66 INCHES OF RAIN
IN A 4 HOUR PERIOD BETWEEN 9 PM AND 1 AM. THIS REPRESENTS NEARLY 1.5
INCHES ABOVE THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF RAIN FOR OLATHE FOR THE ENTIRE
