National Weather Service Pleasant Hill Routine Weekly Test (RWT) Policy
The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Pleasant Hill, MO conducts two RWTs each Wednesday; the first around 11:00 AM and the second around 7:00 PM. However, to avoid undue confusion for the public and our partners on potential severe weather days, we will adhere to the following policy:
1) NWS Pleasant Hill will not conduct either test if any portion of the office’s broadcast area (all areas served by NOAA Weather Radio coverage originating from the NWS in Pleasant Hill) is in a Storm Prediction Center (SPC) day 1 slight, moderate, or high severe thunderstorm risk area, regardless of current conditions or expected timing.
2) If the morning test is conducted, and the NWS Pleasant Hill broadcast area gets placed in a SPC severe thunderstorm risk area prior to the evening test, the evening test will not be conducted and will not be rescheduled.
3) If neither the midday nor evening test is conducted, the NWS in Pleasant Hill will conduct the test on the first available day without the risk of severe weather.
4) If the test is not conducted by Friday of any given week, the test will not be attempted again until the following Wednesday.
