A fast moving Alberta Clipper type storm system spread a 1 to 3 inch band of snow across the region on Friday. Preliminary measured snow reports include:
A second band of snow moved through the area overnight but produced only trace amounts of additional snowfall. Wind was the main weather factor overnight which resulted in widespread blowing and drifting of the snow. Wind speeds were sustained between 20 and 30 mph with higher gusts approaching 40 mph. The winds abated slightly toward dawn, though wind gusts up to 30 mph still were common. Windy conditions this morning will cause some drifting of the snow on most area roads which will create some slippery roads and dangerous driving conditions.
