...First Accumulating Snow of the Season Falls Across the Area...

While slightly behind the climatological normals, the first accumulating snowfall occurred during the 29th and 30th of November.  Snowfall was generally light in nature; however snow persisted for 12 or more hours in some locations.  The heaviest snow fell during the overnight hours of the 29th into the morning of the 30th when upwards of 3 inches of snow were reported in northeastern and north central portions of Missouri. Isolated pockets of 4 inches of snow were reported near Gallatin and Kirksville, MO.

Elsewhere, snowfall amounts ranging between 1 inch and 2 inches were common in areas from St. Joseph, to Carrollton, Richmond, Marshall, and Sedalia.  In the Kansas City Metro, the heaviest snow fell along the western half of the metro area with areas on the Kansas side of the state line receiving 1-1.5 inches of snow.  Snowfall amounts east of the state line ranged from one half inch to as much as an inch.
