DESPITE THE OVERALL COLD PATTERN TO THE MONTH OF JULY IT WAS NOT A
TOP TEN COLDEST AT THE GRAND FORKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE MEAN
TEMPERATURE DEPARTURE WAS ONLY 1.2 DEGREES BELOW THE LONG TERM
AVERAGE. BASED ON THE RELATIVELY SHORT RECORD FOUND AT THE AIRPORT
IT WAS THE 14TH COLDEST JULY.

THE WARMEST WAS 92 DEGREES ON THE 5TH AND 20TH WITH THE COLDEST OF
46 OCCURRED ON THE 2ND.

THE 3.70 INCHES OF TOTAL RAINFALL WAS ONLY 0.55 INCHES ABOVE THE
LONG TERM AVERAGE FOUND IN ANY GIVEN JULY. THAT MAKES JULY 2014 THE
16TH WETTEST ON RECORD. OF THAT MONTHLY TOTAL...2.79 INCHES FELL ON
THE EVENING OF JULY 21ST WHEN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS HIT THE GRAND
CITIES. THAT 2.79 INCHES BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 2.57 SET IN 1966.

THE WIND PEAK AT 69 MPH DURING THOSE STORMS CREATING EXTENSIVE
DAMAGAE IN THE REGION.

THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS PROVISIONAL...IS BASED ON EDITED DATA AND
WILL LIKELY BE CHANGED SLIGHTLY AFTER FURTHER REVIEW BY THE NATIONAL
CLIMATE DATA CENTER. OFFICIAL RECORDS AND SUMMARIES WILL BE
AVAILABLE LATER THIS FALL.
