General Hydrologic Information

Temperatures in April were slightly above normal across the region, with most areas 1 to 2 degrees above the 30 year average. Precipitation for the month was near normal for most of the region, with a few areas reporting as much as 1 inch above normal to 1 inch below normal. Most of the region received between 2.0 and 3.5 inches of precipitation for the month.
 
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of April were near normal to slightly below normal, with deficits of less than 2 inches. The drought indices as of the end of April showed normal conditions along the Nebraska/Iowa/South Dakota border region, with abnormally dry conditions for most of the rest of the region. Moderate drought conditions continued along and west of the James River in South Dakota.
