Summary
April 2006 was a warm and very wet month.
Flooding
There was minor to major river flooding in April. The flooding affected the following river basins:
Big Sioux, Little Sioux, Vermillion, Rock, and Des Moines.
Please refer to the table at the bottom of this report for more detailed information on the river flooding.
General Hydrologic Information
Temperatures in April were above normal across the entire region. Average temperatures for the month were 5.5 to 6.6 degrees above the 30 year average.
Precipitation for the month was above normal for all of the region. Precipitation totals were 120% to 200% of normal.
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of April were near normal across the far southern and western portions of the region, and up to 3 inches above normal in the northeast. The National Drought Monitor indicated no drought conditions for any of the region.
