Summary

December 2005 started out extremely cold and rather wet with freezing rain and heavy snow early in the month, and ended with warm and dry conditions for the last 2 weeks of the month.

Flooding

There was no river flooding in December. There were also no flash flood events.

General Hydrologic Information

Temperatures in December were near normal across the entire region. Average temperatures for the month were generally 1 degree below to 1 degree above the 30 year average.
 
Precipitation for the month was pretty much near normal for all of the region. Precipitation totals ranged from 0.2 inches below to 0.6 inches above normal (60% to 200% of normal).
 
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of December were near normal across the southern portions of the region, and up to 3.5 inches above normal in the northeast. The National Drought Monitor indicated near normal conditions for all of the region.
