General Hydrologic Information

Temperatures in February were below normal across the region, with most areas running 2 to 4 degrees below the 30 year average. Precipitation for the month was above to much above normal. Most of the region received around 0.6 to 1.0 inch of precipitation for the month, which is about 0.2 to 0.5 inch above normal.
 
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of February were slightly below normal. Frost depths at the end of the month were between 2 and 4 feet. The long term drought indices showed abnormally dry conditions for most of the region, with moderate drought conditions along and west of the James River in South Dakota.
