Summary
March was another very warm month with below normal precipitation and very little snowfall.
Flooding
There was no flooding across the region during March.
General Hydrologic Information
Temperatures in March were much above normal across the region. Average temperatures for the month were generally 2 to 5 degrees above the 30 year average.Precipitation for the month ranged from around 50 to 80 percent of normal. Precipitation totals were around 0.2 to 0.9 inch below normal. There was little to no snow cover across the region at the end of the month.
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of March were near normal across the entire region. The National Drought Monitor indicated abnormally dry conditions persisting in the extreme western areas and much of southwest Minnesota, with near normal conditions across the rest of the region.
