Summary

October saw a wide range of conditions across the region, ranging from dry in the southeast to wet in the northwest.

Flooding

There was no flooding in the region during October.

General Hydrologic Information

Temperatures in October were near to slightly above normal across the region. Average temperatures for the month were generally ½ to 1 ½ degrees above the 30 year average.
 
Precipitation for the month ranged from around 60 percent of normal in the southeast to 190 percent of normal in the northwest. Precipitation totals were around 0.8 inch below normal to 1.4 inches above normal.
 
Soil Moisture conditions at the end of October were above normal across the region, with surpluses of around 1 inch in the south and 4 inches in the north. The National Drought Monitor indicated abnormally dry conditions persisting in the extreme western areas, with near normal conditions across the rest of the region.
