As Meteorologist in Charge of WFO Sioux Falls, I wish to welcome you to our web site. WFO Sioux Falls first went online with our Internet Home Page in 1996. There has been a constant evolution and expansion of web-based weather information since that time. Our pledge is to continue to improve and expand our web site as new opportunities and technologies become available. We believe our web site is an excellent way to provide current and historical weather information for Sioux Falls, for South Dakota, and for our forecast and warning area in southeast South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and northeast Nebraska. On a more personal note, my name is Greg Harmon. I have been Meteorologist in Charge of WFO Sioux Falls since December 1990. Prior to this assignment, I was Special Services Program Manager for the Western Region, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I began my National Weather Service (NWS) career in the mid 1970s after graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in Atmospheric Sciences. Included in more than a half dozen NWS duty locations in several central and western states, is an early career stop here at NWS Sioux Falls as a meteorologist intern during the mid and late 1970s. One thing in common between then and now is the service-oriented, friendly staff here at NWS Sioux Falls. We are in the business of providing weather warnings, forecasts, and services to customers in our area of responsibility. We are committed to meeting your weather needs within the framework of NWS policy and local resources and believe our Home Page provides one avenue to achieve this goal.
