Record warm temperatures in January 2006

January 2006 was a record warm month over much of southeast South Dakota, northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota and northeast Nebraska.  In addition to setting records for average monthly temperature, average minimum temperature and average maximum temperature, most locations did not fall below zero in January and had a record number of days above freezing.

Click on the average temperature graphic below to view more information about a particular city.  Available cities include Sioux Falls, Gregory, Huron, Mitchell, Academy, Tyndall, and Brookings in South Dakota.  In Iowa, available cities are Sioux City, Sioux Center, and Spencer.  And in Minnesota, data is available for Marshall.
