Joe Hays from Edison receives 10 year Length-of-Service Award

Since February of 1996, Joe Hays has been in charge of recording the 24 hour precipitation and taking care of the Fischer and Porter recording rain gage at Edison, Nebraska. On a routine basis, Joe checks the recording rain gage to make sure it is running properly and also wipes the grain dust off the solar panel. Since he lives just south of the grain elevators, the grain dust tends to interfere with the solar panel’s ability to keep the battery charged on the gage.

Marla K. Doxey, Data Acquisition Program Manager at NWS Hastings, Nebraska, presented Joe with his award.
