Storm Reports (rain reports are down the page)
Thunderstorms rolled across south central Nebraska and north central Kansas on Friday evening, July 31, 2009, sparked by an aggressive cold front which moved southeast across the area. Nearly all of region received at least some rain, with a few areas catching large hail and damaging winds. Here are a few of the storm report highlights:

Rainfall Reports
Rainfall across the area varied from excessive in a few spots, to nothing in others. However, most locations did report at least some rain, with the average ranging from one third to three quarters of an inch. The heaviest rain fell across Phillips and Rooks counties in north central Kansas. An average of 1+ inch fell in those two counties, but the area from Glade to Logan easily measured 2 to 4 inches of rain. The map and list below summarize the event-total rainfall. Most of the rainfall reports are from NWS Cooperative Observers, but the stations listed at the airports are generally from automated weather observation stations.
