May was not a normal month by any standard and average monthly temperatures were scattered a couple of degrees or less either side of the May norm. About the only observable normal that surfaced was the number of days with 90 degree or warmer temperatures...May usually averages 1 or 2 days with temperatures at or above 90 degrees...which was the case for most locations this May. Several locations missed out on rain during the month...with only Gothenburg and Holdrege finishing the month with above average monthly rain fall. The excesses received at both Gothenburg and Holdrege was enough for them to climb above their January to May year-to-date average rainfall while others lagged behind. Note: # indicates one day or more of missing data. * indicates the last of several occurrences. |
