Another round of rain presented itself to south central Nebraska and north central Kansas Saturday night and early Sunday morning.  Flooding problems, which have been ongoing across some areas due to rain in recent weeks, were exacerbated as rainfall amounts on the order of 2-3 inches were realized across some areas.  The table below contains a list of rainfall reports from this latest round of rain.

The map below depicts 24 hour rainfall ending at 7:00 am CDT Sunday.

Finally, the map below shows storm total rainfall through 4:00 am CDT Sunday as estimated by the WSR-88D radar located at Blue Hill, NE.  It is important to note that for several different reasons, radar does not depict rainfall amounts perfectly.  On most occasions however it does give us a very good idea of how much rain has fallen across the area.  Take a look and see for yourself!  Blue colors represent rainfall amounts of one inch or less, green represents rainfall amounts in the 1 to 2.5 inch range, and yellow represents rainfall amounts in the 2.5 to 5 inch range.  In the table and map above you will notice there is a sharp drop off in rain amounts as one moves from Grand Island (2.44"), southward to 4N Hastings (1.29"), and finally into Hastings (0.47").  Now compare this data with the map below.  Again...although the radar image may not be perfect, it comes fairly close!
