After a relatively cool April...May turned out to be an excessively warm and wet month across Central Nebraska and North Central Kansas.  Although it was a warm month with a few locations breaking into their all-time Top 20 warmest records for May...monthly rainfall is what stood out across our region.  May 2007 was the wettest May since 1894 at Gothenburg...and it was the second wettest May on record since 1895 at Greeley.

Not only was it a wet month...it has turned out to be one of the wettest starts to a calendar year for many locations.  January 1st through May 31st this year has been the wettest first 5 months of the year on record for Greeley and Holdrege...and the second wettest for Gothenburg...with Beaver City...Hebron...Grand Island and Kearney finishing in the Top Ten.
