A tight pressure gradient resulted in strong north to northwest winds across south central Nebraska and north central Kansas on Monday.  Sustained peak winds in the 30-40 mph range were observed from Monday morning into the evening hours, with peak wind gusts climbing into the 40-50 mph range at many locations.  The above graphic and table below depict peak wind gusts as recorded by Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) sites and Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) sites across the area.
