** Graphic denotes occurence of hail which is 1 inch in diameter or greater **

The first severe weather event of the spring season took place across Nebraska and Kansas on Thursday, March 30th. A strong area of low pressure pushed Northeast into the region from the Southern Plains Wednesday night and early Thursday. Convection began early Thursday morning...with a thunderstorm watch posted in the predawn hours Thursday. A new tornado watch soon followed, issued for the area just before 9 AM Thursday morning, as the collision of dry air behind the cold front and warmer, more moist air ahead of it made the development of severe weather imminent for the Central Plains.

While luckily not producing any tornadoes for the area, the upper level low and associated cold front still did manage to unleash quite a bit of adverse weather over our area. As noted in the graphic above, quite a bit of hail was seen with the thunderstorms that flared up...with some notable wind damage across the eastern third of our area as well. A more detailed storm log from this storm system is below.
