Isolated severe thunderstorms developed along an advancing cold front across parts of south central Nebraska during the late afternoon and evening hours on Friday, July 24, 2009. Some of this activity continued into the early morning hours of July 25. The main impact from these storms was large hail to the size of golf balls, although several people sighted a funnel cloud  just north of Grand Island around 700 PM.  Fortunately, this funnel cloud was never reported to actually touch down as a tornado.

These photographs of the funnel cloud were taken by David Radke near St. Libory:

For the most part, the strongest hail-producing storms only affected a relatively narrow corridor, extending from around Grand Island, Cairo and Boelus, southeast through the Hastings, Juniata and Edgar areas.
