ROUTINE PRODUCTS

Hourly Weather Roundup Provides hourly weather conditions such as temperature and sky condition for locations across the area. Updated every hour approximately 10 minutes after the hour. Regional Weather Summary A plain language explanation of the weather systems expected to affect the Central Plains and the conditions they will bring. Issued at 530 AM, 1130 AM, and 530 PM. Updated as conditions warrant. Zone Forecast A three day forecast tailored for the transmitter listening area. Issued at 400 AM and 400 PM. Updated as conditions warrant. Traveler's Forecast A three day forecast for selected cities along Interstate 80. Issued at 400 AM and 400 PM and will play for 3 hours. Daily Climate Climate information for selected location(s) for each transmitter. Issued at 700 AM and 700 PM. Hazardous Weather Outlook Plain language explanation of any potential hazardous weather expected in the area with emphasis on the what, when, and where of the hazard. Issued around 600 AM throughout the year, with an additional issuance around 1200 pm from April 1 to September 30. Additional updates may be done as conditions warrant. Short Term Forecast Provides a detailed forecast of significant weather expected to affect the area over the next 1 to 3 hours. Issued and updated as conditions warrant. Routine Weekly Test A weekly test of the NOAA Weather Radio SAME technology and alert tones. Provides listeners with an opportunity to verify that their NOAA Weather Radio is functioning properly and is correctly programmed. Test is usually performed each Wednesday at around 1100 AM, but is canceled if hazardous weather is ongoing or is expected shortly.

PRODUCTS BROADCAST WITH THE ALERT TONES

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued by the Storm Prediction Center when conditions are favorable for thunderstorms with wind gusts of 60 mph or greater and/or large hail the size of dimes or larger. Tornado Watch Issued by the Storm Prediction Center when conditions are favorable for tornadoes. Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when a thunderstorm is capable of producing three quarter inch diameter or larger hail and/or 60 mph or greater winds. Tornado Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when a thunderstorm is capable of producing a tornado or a tornado has been sighted. Flash Flood Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when flash flooding is occurring or is imminent according to doppler radar rainfall estimates or actual observations. Civil Emergency Message Issued when a non-weather hazard poses a danger to the public. Normally done at the request of civil authorities. Child Abduction Emergency Broadcast at the request of law enforcement authorities when a child is suspected to have been recently abducted and is thought to be in considerable danger. Winter Storm Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when hazardous winter weather is expected to occur. Hazardous winter weather is defined as: snow accumulations of 6 inches in 12 hours or 8 inches in 24 hours or greater; blowing and drifting snow deemed hazardous, but not reaching blizzard criteria; ice accumulations of 1/4 of an inch or greater; any combination of these. Blizzard Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when the following conditions are expected to prevail for an extended period (usually 3 hours or longer): 1. Wind speeds of 35 mph or more (this can be gusts or sustained), and 2. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow (i.e., visibility frequently at or below 1/4 mile). High Wind Warning Issued by the National Weather Service when sustained winds of 40 mph or greater are expected to last for one hour or longer, or winds (sustained or gusts) to 58 mph or greater are expected for any length of time. Severe Weather Statement* A follow-up message to provide updates to or cancel a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning. Normally not broadcast with the alert tones, but may be dones at the discretion of operational staff.
