Service Hydrologist
A native of Illinois, Brian began his weather career in 1981 with the U.S. Air Force. For the next 8 years he found himself living in such places as Mississippi, New Mexico, Illinois and New Hampshire. During that time, he also spent 3 years on the wonderful island of Guam where he flew typhoon reconnaissance missions with the 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron ("Typhoon Chasers", the former sister unit of the Hurricane Hunters ). After leaving the USAF in 1989, he attended college at Northern Illinois University . There he completed a B.S. in meteorology, with an emphasis on hydrology. After graduation, he began his career with the National Weather Service in Columbus, Ohio. In 1995, he altered his career path to hydrology and spent his internship in Boise, Idaho. The following year, he was selected as the service hydrologist for the NWS office in Spokane, Washington. He remained in Spokane until finally settling in Grand Junction in April 1999.
