Meteorologist-In-Charge
Howdy to all of our customers, partners and weather friends on the Western Slope. My name is Doug Crowley and I came on board as the Meteorologist in Charge of the Grand Junction Weather Office in September 2000. My wife Sandy, and daughter Brandi, accompanied me to the Grand Valley. I also have a son Michael, living in Amarillo, Texas, with his wife and our beautiful granddaughter.
Now for a little about me. I worked twelve years in the private sector before returning to school in the early 80s for my meteorology degree. During the past twenty years I have worked in National Weather Service research and field offices in Idaho, Colorado, Montana, Puerto Rico, and Texas. My last assignment was at Southern Region Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. I served here at the Grand Junction office in the early 90s. Since leaving in the Spring of 1993, my professional and personal goal has been to return to this office. My family and I are thrilled to be back in the Grand Valley.
The mission of the National Weather Service is to save lives and reduce property loss. For all who live, work, and travel through our wonderful area, the Grand Junction office will endeavor to provide the very best weather forecasts and services possible through a highly trained staff, utilizing the latest in science and technology. But even with the all this, we need and count on your support to complete our goals. I wish to thank you for that support and your efforts assisting us with our mission. I look forward to meeting some old friends and making many new ones. I can be reached via e-mail at Doug.Crowley@noaa.gov or by phone at 970-243-7007.
