The National Weather Service in Goodland, Kansas is looking for weather enthusiasts willing to assist in the collection of rain, hail and snow data.  If you are interested in reporting precipitation information from your location, you can join a nationwide network of volunteer weather reporters, whose information is used daily by National Weather Service offices across the country, as well as other agencies.  This nationwide network is known as CoCoRaHS, which stands for Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.

To give you some idea of how many volunteers are already reporting, check out the map below showing precipitation data from the nearly 10,000 CoCoRaHS weather enthusiasts across the country.

Here in the Tri-State area we are always looking for additional volunteers.  If you're interested, we encourage you to join and share your backyard weather information with the rest of the country.

The Goodland National Weather Service Forecast Office issues a daily product (seen below) highlighting the local area precipitation reports from our CoCoRaHS volunteers.  You could become a part of our daily report!
