Congressman Moran Visits WFO Goodland

U.S. Congressman Jerry Moran (center) and Staff Director Tyler Wegmeyer (right) visited the National Weather Service office in Goodland, KS on December 15th as part of a tour of NW Kansas.  Congressman Moran represents the First District of Kansas, which covers the western ¾ of the state.  After an initial welcome and briefing by Meteorologist-In-Charge Scott Mentzer, Warning Coordination Meteorologist David Floyd (left) gave a tour of the operations area, and presented a short  introduction to AWIPS, the National Digital Forecast Database and NWS Web services.  Congressman Moran sits on the House Committee on Agriculture, and demonstrated a keen interest in the weather and economy of western Kansas.  Photo by  Administrative Support Assistant Joy Hayden.
