.STATE AND LOCAL ACTIONS...

NO KNOWN ACTIONS AT THIS TIME.

.CLIMATE SUMMARY...

MANY PARTS OF THE TRI STATE AREA WERE INUNDATED WITH HEAVY RAINFALL
DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF HIGHWAY 83 IN
NORTHWEST KANSAS AND SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA RECEIVED 2 TO 3 TIMES NORMAL
MONTHLY RAINFALL AMOUNTS. EAST OF HIGHWAY 83 PRECIPITATION WAS
GENERALLY NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. IN EASTERN COLORADO
RAINFALL WAS GENERALLY WELL ABOVE NORMAL...THOUGH PARTS OF CHEYENNE
COUNTY NEAR CHEYENNE WELLS WERE BELOW NORMAL.

A SERIES OF UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEMS MOVED ACROSS THE ROCKIES AND
INTO THE PLAINS DURING THE PAST MONTH. EACH SYSTEM RESULTED IN
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE TRI STATE AREA. ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE STORMS
WERE SEVERE WITH LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES...THEY ALSO BROUGHT
BENEFICIAL MOISTURE TO THE REGION. HOWEVER...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
RESULTED IN FLASH FLOODING AND SWOLLEN CREEKS AND RIVERS. THE
HEAVIEST RAINS WERE CONCENTRATED FROM THE MCCOOK NEBRASKA AREA
SOUTHWEST TO ATWOOD IN NORTHWEST KANSAS. HEAVY RAINS ALSO FELL
ACROSS WICHITA AND SOUTHERN LOGAN COUNTIES.
