.CLIMATE SUMMARY...

PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER WAS VARIABLE ACROSS THE TRI

DRY. THE HEAVIEST MONTHLY TOTALS GENERALLY OCCURRED SOUTH OF A LINE
FROM DENSMORE TO RUSSELL SPRINGS IN NORTHWEST KANSAS. HILL CITY AND
RUSSELL SPRINGS BOTH REPORTED AROUND 4 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF
SEPTEMBER...NEARLY TWICE THE NORMAL OF 2 INCHES. HEAVY RAIN FROM
THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED IN THOSE LOCATIONS ON THE 17TH AND AGAIN ON
THE 28TH. OTHER LOCATIONS RECEIVING ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL INCLUDED A
GOOD PORTION OF WALLACE COUNTY IN KANSAS...MOST OF RED WILLOW COUNTY
IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA...AND RURAL SOUTH CENTRAL KIT CARSON COUNTY IN
EASTERN COLORADO. ELSEWHERE...THE RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH WAS NEAR OR
SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. THE AREAS WHICH HAVE BEEN CLASSIFIED AS
ABNORMALLY DRY IN THE DROUGHT MONITOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS REMAINED
ESSENTIALLY UNCHANGED...ALTHOUGH YUMA COUNTY COLORADO HAS NOW BEEN
DESIGNATED AS SUCH.
