...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 1997, SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WINDS BLEW OUT WINDOWS, UPROOTED 
TREES, AND KNOCKED DOWN SIGNS AND ANTENNAS IN DRESDEN KANSAS IN 
DECATUR COUNTY. AT LEAST 4 ROOFS WERE BLOWN OFF HOMES AND A STORAGE 
BUILDING AND A MOBILE HOME WERE DESTROYED. A LEG ON A GRAIN 
ELEVATOR WAS BENT. AT LEOVILLE, A SPOTTER ESTIMATED 60 MPH WINDS.

IN 2007, GOLFBALL SIZED HAIL CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD OF A CAR SOUTH 
OF BURLINGTON COLORADO,  WHILE HAIL UP TO TWO AND A HALF INCHES IN 
DIAMETER WAS REPORTED SOUTHEAST OF ATWOOD KANSAS.
