Recent Cooperative Observer Awards
On March 25th, 2005, Cooperative Observer, Larry J. Vierthaler was presented a Length-of-Service Award for his 10 years of service, providing readings for Zenda Kansas, area. Michael (Joe) Rosner, Data Acquistion Program Manager of the National Weather Service presented the award to Mr. Vierthaler.

On April 27th, 2005, Cooperative Observer Michael P. Gillen (pictured right) was given his 10-year Length of Service Award for providing precipitation readings for the Willowdale 1SW area. Michael (Joe) Rosner (pictured left), Data Acquisition Program Manager, of the National Weather Service in Wichita presented the award to Mr. Gillen.

On October 6, 2003, Observer Tom Burton was presented a Length of Service Award for 10 years of service for providing Precipitation Readings for the Matfield Green 2N, Kansas, area.. Presenting the award was Michael (Joe) Rosner, Data Acquisition Program Manager of the National Weather Service in Wichita, Kansas.

On September 25, 2003, Observer Ruth Beason (holding plaque) was presented the prestigious Dick Hagameyer Award and a letter from the Director of the National Weather Service, Jack Kelly, for providing Precipitation to the Hale, Kansas, area for 45 years. In addition, she received a 45-Year Length of Service Award. Presenting the awards from left to right were Leon Wasinger (CPM) Janet Spurgeon (SH), Richard Elder (MIC), Michael (Joe) Rosner (DAPM) from the National Weather Service in Wichita, KS.

On August 9, 2003, Observer Anna Cole was presented a 20-Year Length of Service Award for the Chanute 3N, Kansas, area. Presenting the award was Leon Wasinger, Cooperative Program Manager, of the National Weather Service in Wichita. Mrs. Cole has provided River Readings for the Chanute 3N area for the past 20 years.

On July 31, 2003, Observer Morris (Mick) Swartz (holding plaque) was presented a 30-Year Length of Service Award for the Hutchinson, Kansas, area. Presenting the award was Janet Spurgeon, Service Hydrologist, of the National Weather Service in Wichita. Also in attendance was Bruce Wightman, Hydrometeorological Technician. Mr. Swartz has provided River Readings for the Hutchinson area for the past 30 years.
