Figure 12: Images from KVNX (Vance AFB, Oklahoma) WSR-88D radar at 1155 UTC 24 April 2006. Left image is a 4 panel of Reflectivity with 0.5, 1.5, 2.4, and 3.4 degree slices. Right image is the corresponding SRM 4 panel for the same slices. The Wichita supercell is depicted in the top left image. The right image of SRM has a strong rotation couplet highlighted within the overlayed white oval circle. At this time (1155 UTC) and even one volume scan earlier, there was a strong elevated reflectivity core with several pixels of >57 DBZ above the minus 20 degree celsius height (estimated at 21,700 ft AGL).
