Although temperatures were near normal, February 2006 will go down as one of the driest Februarys on record. No measurable precipitation occurred at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and there were three days where only a trace of precipitation was observed.
The trace of precipitation makes this February the 5th driest on record at Wichita and the first time since 1991 that no measurable precipitation occurred. This winter, which began December 1st, 2005 and ends February 28th, was also extremely dry. In fact, the winter of 2005-2006 will go down as the 5th driest on record for Wichita.
