2ND WARMEST THANKSGIVING SINCE 1888 FOR WICHITA! (11/24/2006)

THANKSGIVING 2006 PROVED TO BE THE WARMEST IN OVER 40 YEARS.

THE TEMPERATURE AT WICHITA MID-CONTINENT AIRPORT REACHED 69 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON, WHICH WAS ABOUT 20 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. EVEN THOUGH THIS FELL SHORT OF THE CALENDAR DAY RECORD BY 3 DEGREES, IT WAS THE 2ND WARMEST THANKSGIVING FOR WICHITA SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN 1888. THE WARMEST THANKSGIVING ON RECORD OCCURRED IN 1965, WHEN THE MERCURY REACHED 71 DEGREES.

THE COLDEST THANKSGIVING SINCE 1888 FOR WICHITA OCCURRED IN 1952, WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED ONLY 22 DEGREES. MORE RECENTLY, THE COLDEST THANKSGIVING SINCE 1990 FOR WICHITA OCCURRED IN 1993, WHEN THE MERCURY REACHED ONLY 26 DEGREES.
