Snowstorm Impacts Central and Southeastern Kansas January 20th-21st, 2007 (1/22/2007)

By: Jim Caruso

A strong winter storm system tracked across Kansas Saturday into Saturday night, producing widespread accumulating snow across the area.

Snowfall amounts generally ranged from 4 to 8 inches with the highest amounts occurring in central and south central Kansas. There were several reports of sleet mixed in with the snow across southeastern Kansas for part of the day Saturday, but ice accumulation was not a problem with this winter storm. The accumulating snowfall produced snow covered and slick highways. Image 1 is a graphic showing the two day snowfall totals across Kansas. Image 2 and Image 3 are snow pictures taken at the National Weather Service Office in Wichita, Kansas.
