A late season winter storm tracked across the central Plains on Friday and Saturday (April 13th and 14th), bringing snowfall accumulations as much as 6 inches to central and south central Kansas. This was the latest snowfall on record in many sites across the region, and will go down in the record books as a historical spring snow storm.
A late season winter storm tracked across the central Plains on Friday and Saturday (April 13th and 14th), bringing snowfall accumulations as much as 6 inches to central and south central Kansas. This was the latest snowfall on record in many sites across the region, and will go down in the record books as a historical spring snow storm for this area. Image 1 and Image 2 were taken at the National Weather Service Office in Wichita during some of the heavier snow in the early morning hours of April 14th. A storm total snowfall map is shown in Image 3, and Image 4 shows the remaining snow that is visible on the satellite image at approximately 3pm on April 15th.
