AT 353 PM ON AUGUST 7TH...THE TEMPERATURE AT THE MID-CONTINENT AIRPORT IN WICHITA HIT 100 DEGREES. THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME THIS SUMMER...THAT THE TEMPERATURE HAS HIT THE CENTURY MARK. THE END OF JUNE IS WHEN WICHITA TYPICALLY REACHES THE CENTURY MARK FOR THE FIRST TIME.

THE LAST TIME WICHITA REACHED 100 DEGREES WAS AUGUST 18TH 2006. WICHITA TYPICALLY AVERAGES AROUND 11 DAYS OF 100 DEGREES OR HIGHER IN A SEASON. FOR COMPARISON...WICHITA MADE 100 DEGREES OR HIGHER LAST YEAR 16 TIMES.
